British luxury sports car maker Aston Martin staged its first ever Dream Ride, a charity event designed to raise awareness for Special Olympics Australia, in Sydney this month.
Starting off at Luna Park Sydney, a total of 24 Aston Martins – including the new-generation DB11 – partook a scenic drive around Sydney, taking in landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The drive concluded at Sydney Motorsport Park where the Astons took to the track to really stretch their legs, accompanied by a harmonious V8 and V12 concerto.
All told, 100 Special Olympics athletes were passengers throughout the day, in five different car makes and two motorcycle makes, including Morgans, Mustangs and of course Aston Martins.
The maiden charity event was a resounding success as a fundraising event according to organisers, while increasing awareness for the Special Olympics.
"With 2016 marking the inaugural Dream Ride in Australia, the day was a genuine once-in-a-lifetime experience, all in aid of a wonderful, charitable cause," said Special Olympics Australia CEO Corene Strauss.
"Luna Park is such an iconic Sydney landmark and Special Olympic athletes and Aston Martin drivers truly experienced a day that they will never forget."
The head of Aston Martin Lagonda's Australia and New Zealand local operation, Kevin Wall, added his support saying the event was a great success.
"Our Aston Martin Sydney dealership and our passionate Aston Martin Owners Club are very proud to support Dream Ride and this fantastic event."
