How fast was Shane van Gisbergen’s McLaren 650S GT3 record pole-setting lap at last weekend’s Bathurst 12 Hour?
“2:01.286,” we hear you say.
Yes, we know that, but how FAST was it?
There’s no better way to experience an awesome racetrack performance than from within the cockpit itself. So we’ve grabbed in-car of SVG’s record-setting lap courtesy of McLaren and published it here.
And just to prove just how fast the lap was, we’ve contrasted it with the none-too-shabby practice in-car vision from Audi fast-man and 2015 Australian GT Championship winner, German racer Christopher Mies (Thanks Chris for the video)…
We stress this is not necessarily Mies’ fastest lap, but at around 2:02 and change, it’s still well faster than any V8 Supercar lap ever. Officially, Mies qualified fourth with 02:02.183, about 0.9sec behind the flying Kiwi.
In a word, awesome… And, for the time being at least, the only Bathurst in-car footage you’ll ever need to download.
