Brazen car thieves in Darwin have made off with a local radio station's promotion vehicle, a mint-condition Holden HJ Sandman.
The panel van was stolen over the Easter long weekend, gutted of its high-end, custom-made French audio-visual system, returned and then left on blocks after the crooks made off with its wheels too.
The promotional vehicle, owned by Darwin's Hot100 radio station, is understood to be worth around $25,000 and took years to restore after being rebuilt from the ground up.
A quick look at carsales.com.au shows Holden HJ Sandmans start at around $30,000 and their owners ask up to $50,000.
You can read about how the HJ panel van was discovered and restored on the Darwin's Hot100 website.
On social media the Hot100 team said: "If you see these wheels for sale anywhere please let us know.
"Also be on the lookout for anyone suspicious handing out iced coffees or Maccas vouchers..."
