Ford F-Series goes stealth

Black Ops treatment for F-250 and F-350 super-utes available from Harrison F-Trucks by mid-year

Ford F-Series reseller Harrison F-Trucks has announced the availability of 2015 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Black Ops models in Australia for the first time by mid-year.

Created by US vehicle transformation specialist Tuscany, converted to right-hand drive in Melbourne by Vehicle Development Corporation (VDC) and sold by Harrison's retail outlets in Melton (Victoria) and Maroochydore (Queensland), the Black Ops F-truck is more than your average 'black edition'.

Aiming for a covert look – but resulting in one of the biggest, baddest and least stealthy vehicles on the road – all factory badges, logos and chromed components have been blacked-out in Ford Tuxedo Black paint, although exclusive Black Ops badges are added inside and out.

Both Black Ops utes ride on exclusive 20-inch black alloys with either 325/60 R20 BF Goodrich All-Terrain or optional KM2 Mud Terrain tyres hugged by beefy fender flares.

Up front is a black powder-coated bull bar with a pair of KC off-road Daylighter driving lights, a unique black-coated grille and two huge Ram Air bonnet scoops.

Out back there's a lockable hard tonneau cover for the expansive carpet-lined tray and a Quiet Tone Performance Exhaust in stainless steel with black powder-coated exhaust outlets.

Naturally, the heavy-duty electrically deploying side steps are black powder-coated and also standard is a four-inch lift kit courtesy of Pro-Comp suspension, accompanied by realigned front geometry and a recalibrated speedo and tyre pressure tyres sensors.

There is no change to the F-250 and F-350's standard second-generation 6.7-litre Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel, which in MY2015 spec churns out 328kW (up from 298kW) and a monster 1166Nm of torque -- up from 1084Nm.

It drives all four wheels via a six-speed TorqShift automatic transmission and slams down a gargantuan towing capacity of 8.6 tonnes.

Pricing is yet to be announced, but expect the cheque to be almost as big as an F-350 given Harrison's most basic F-250 4x2 single-cab starts at $105,000 plus on-road costs.
