Infiniti teases retro racer for Pebble Beach unveil

Japanese car-maker planning to debut its advanced pure-electric hardware wrapped up in a classic 1950s Formula 1 car

Infiniti is planning to shock onlookers at this month's Pebble Beach Concours classic car event by unveiling a concept that appears to have been heavily influenced by 1950s Formula 1 cars.

Releasing a single teaser of the car that will make its global debut on August 16, Infiniti claims the car it plans to unveil in Monterey California will be a "heritage inspired prototype vehicle".

Despite its unashamed retro looks, beneath the skin Infiniti claims the show car will actually pack cutting-edge technology and help debut its "advanced EV technology".

The pure-electric tech is likely to have already been developed as part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s huge investment in battery-powered vehicles.

It's thought the new battery-electric powertrain fitted to the retrotastic show car is destined for production car within the next five years.

More teases are expected ahead of its US unveiling.
