Luxury garages must rank as the ultimate indulgence for car enthusiasts. They're all the rage among the well-to-do, and now cashed-up Aussies can lash out on a nice home for their most prized possessions on four wheels.
Adelaide-based designer Jayde Deverson has announced his company, Deverson Garageworks, can now cater to customers all around the country. Deverson's company has been pitching glamorous high-end garages to customers for the past six years, and the man himself has over 20 years of experience in the industry.
"Generally, after the first meeting with the client, I know the design direction we will take – whether that be contemporary, modern, classic or a combination of different elements," he says.
In a recent example of his work, an Adelaide Hills couple hired his services for two garages, the first of which features a four-tonne hoist, extraction systems for dust and CO2, plus a bar fridge, surround system and built-in compressed air lines. The structure itself features floor-to-ceiling cabinets and custom lighting.
"I wanted a functional workshop that looked good, that you could spend a day in. I come
out to the garage and it’s hard to go back inside the house," says homeowner Matthew White.
For the second garage 8000 tonnes of dirt have had to be removed to make room available to house up to 12 cars within the two-storey structure. This garage is better equipped than many homes, with two guest rooms, an ensuite, kitchenette and lounge room on the second floor with views over the area. There are cellars beneath the garage, and a custom turntable for the cars is installed on the ground floor. This garage is anticipated to be completed within six months, and will accommodate most – if not all – of Matthew's collection of 13 cars (vintage and classic) and his 10 motorbikes.
