The Ferrari F430 is a bit sluggish, right? And perhaps a little understated, too?

Well, this obviously must be the case because madcap tuning firm Hamann has conjured up a completely OTT version that not only lifts performance, but also brings lairy visuals.

Dubbed the "Black Miracle", the Fezza is another example of the growing (and peculiar) trend towards matt black paint finishes among the high-end modifiers.

Several examples of matt black cars were on show at this year's Geneva auto expo, and among these was a sinister looking Rolls-Royce Phantom fettled by the nutty home-town Rinspeed mob.

Getting back to the Black Miracle, the bodywork finish is achieved via a foil that "leaves an impression as if the entire car body is covered in velvet."

Quite why you would want a velvet-clad Ferrari is beyond us, but clearly there's a market for such a thing.

Also curious is that Hamann's boast that the Black Miracle "acts similar to a black hole absorbing all light." Er, okay then…

Fortunately, the process is reversible, which means "when the black matt colour doesn't seem pleasing anymore, the foil can be easily removed."

In stark contrast to the matt black body are the bright orange (or you can have them in red or yellow) wheels, mirrors and front, side and rear aerodynamic addenda.

The aero kit (which includes a front splitter and rear spoiler) is claimed to maximise downforce at high speeds.

And high speeds shouldn't be a problem for the Black Miracle as it scores a 36kW power hike (the standard car already cranks out a robust 360kW) via a reprogrammed ECU, high-performance header and sport steel catalyst

The added oomph is offset by firmer, lower suspension (just the thing for steep driveways) and a set of forged 20-inch rims.

Of course, no custom job these days would be complete without Lambo-style scissor doors (another Hamann specialty) to really wow the latte sippers when you cruise up in front of your favourite café…
