HOLDEN SPORTWAGON

A new, integrated performance package for the SS V Sportwagon offers a real wallop

Walkinshaw Performance has rolled out a new basket of goodies to complement the 480kW Supercar combo the company announced last month. This time around, the package is slightly down on power and torque, but the new offering represents a saving of nearly $6000.

It's a package available for all V8-engined Holdens -- including Statesman/Caprice and ute -- but Walkinshaw is promoting it fitted to the Holden SS V Sportwagon and renaming it the 'Superwagon'.

Power and torque for this tailgated terror is 450kW and 770Nm; slightly down on output as mentioned, but it remains full warranted and Walkinshaw Performance will uphold the balance of driveline warranty even on a used car.

Features of the Superwagon package include a WP190 supercharger finished in red, colour-coded bonnet scoops, 3.0-inch bi-modal exhaust system, lowered suspension, exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels/tyres and specific engine covers, mats, headrests (pictured).

"Over 50% of our enquiry is from Holden customers and the fact we are now offering a warranty on supercharged engines gives owners peace of mind, as well as some pretty exciting product to experience," says National Sales and Marketing Manager for WP, Tony Harris.

WP and premium audio supplier Rockford Fosgate can also provide Superwagon buyers with a fully integrated sound system.

"Importantly, the audio upgrade does not compromise any of the existing electronic functionality in the Superwagon, like Bluetooth connectivity," says Harris.

Price for the Superwagon package is $43,990, not including the price of the base car, but as Walkinshaw's Program Engineer, Alan Hale, says, the value is there for the right sort of buyer -- and one looking for a factory warranty for a practical road-burner.

"To be able to have a car with all that boot space for weekends away with the kids, which can also sprint from 0-100kmh in less than five seconds is some achievement," he says.

"A full drive line warranty is the icing on the cake for anyone looking for increased
performance from their Holden, without compromising."
