French car-maker Citroen has taken the wrapping off its latest offering, the DS 5LS.
Made in China and so far only confirmed for the Chinese market, the DS 5LS is a further step towards the luxurious for Citroen’s DS brand.
The DS 5LS boasts more interior space than the standard DS5 via a long 2710mm wheelbase, and is loaded up with upmarket features like massaging front seats, reclining rear seats and an air ioniser to improve cabin air quality.
There’s also keyless entry, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
The DS 5LS will be available with two Citroen engines, the THP 160 (119kW) or THP 200 (149kW) twin-scroll turbo-petrol four-cylinder mills, coupled with six-speed automatic gearboxes.
Dominated by a unique headlight-hugging grille, giving the Citroen an aggressive gaze, many of the DS 5LS’s exterior design cues have been taken from the Citroen DS Wild Rubis Concept from the 2013 Shanghai show.
The DS 5LS also sports bigger wheels compared to the standard DS5, and a wider stance to add to its sporty demeanour. The exterior is finished off with extra bling, thanks to chrome accents adorning the window line, which extends all the way to the boot.
As a standalone name in the Chinese market, the DS 5LS will be the second car made at China’s Shenzhen plant, following the Citroen CS5.
