Infographic: Supersized road trip from Brisbane to Perth

We've encapsulated what it's like to drive from Brisbane to Perth in this neat infographic. No wildlife was harmed in its creation...

?If you've ever thought about planning a supersized road trip, driving from the east to the west coast of Australia should be at the top of your list. We should know, because we did it a few weeks ago in a bright red Mazda6 wagon, driving for five days straight!

Just don't do what Feann did and only bring one CD... Even if it's a good one.

We've put together this infographic to show some of the wonders of the journey. And we think you'll agree it's absolutely splendiferous, particularly the road kill section.

Nevertheless, the old human vs distance vs car debate is likely to reach a new level once the CIA gets a hold of this thing...

We've documented the distance covered, the sights to be seen and things you can eat (is it wise to chow down on seafood so far from the ocean?), and the fact that wagons can carry more cans of cola than any other type of car. It's 100 per cent scientifical.

Also, would you believe that despite the racy look and red colour of the Mazda6, the police didn't drag us over the coals once? True story.

The journey has also been documented in a gallery and with a road test, and we'll also have a full-blown feature of the road trip – complete with video – on the motoring iPad app soon, which comes out every fortnight. And it's free!

Check out the cool infographic, share it if you like it, and check out these other stories and galleries for an inside look at the epic continental crossing.
