Here’s the best look yet at the replacement for Lamborghini’s Gallardo, which was expected to be called the ‘Cabrera’ but has now been confirmed as the ‘Huracan’, ahead of its official reveal tomorrow night.
The house of the raging bull’s most important model in a decade was previously seen in a series of spy shots and an official sketch as part of a teaser campaign that kicked off late last month.
Now, full-frame close-up images of the (still disguised) Huracan have been snapped for the first time ahead of the car’s global reveal on Friday, revealing an even sharper, wedgier more low-slung shape than the Gallardo.
Like the Gallardo, the Huracan – seen cold-weather testing here in the snow of northern Europe -- will come with a 5.2-litre V10 and should again be available in rear-wheel drive and AWD forms.
But that’s where the Gallardo similarities will end, since the Italian supercar maker’s all-new entry-level model will be based on a new platform that also underpins sister company Audi’s second-generation R8, which is due to appear next year before its market launch a year after the Huracan.
A seven-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission will be fitted instead of the Gallardo’s clunky automated manual and outputs are likely to increase from 419kW/540Nm to about 450kW or 600hp, in line with the car’s expected LP600-4 nameplate.
Extensive use of aluminium and carbon-fibre is expected to be employed in the construction of the Huracan, pricing for which is unlikely to waver much from the Gallardo’s $409,500 admission ticket.
Stand by for the Huracan’s full official reveal on Friday (December 20).
