Full F-Series range arrives in Oz

Local conversion firm will begin delivering Ford's American F-Series commercial vehicle range this month
Ford Australia won't sell you an F-Series truck from the USA, but companies based here are saddling up to supply customer demand for the heavy-duty commercials.
Harrison Trucks is launching its converted range of Ford F-Series trucks this month, comprising all variants available in America, from F-150 right up to the F-550 Superduty. Anything in between – F-250, F-350 and F-450 – can be ordered from the company, through its two premises in Victoria and Queensland. The company claims its partner, VDC, has been achieving the highest standards converting the American imports to right-hand drive.
"Harrison F-Trucks has an unrivalled level of expertise with the F-Series," says Nic Harrison, Dealer Principal of Harrison F-Trucks.
"There are more than 1000 F-Series on Australian roads which have covered more than 100 million kilometres complied by Harrison F-Trucks partner VDC. This is a clear measure of both our expertise and the quality of our conversions along with the support service we provide to customers."
Harrison F-Trucks has been retailing the American Fords since 2002, and VDC has been converting them to right-hand drive since 1982. The F-Series is an ideal workhorse or tow vehicle for caravanning, the company claims.
For 2015 the F-Series Superduty is powered by an upgraded 6.7-litre 'Power Stroke' turbo-diesel V8 rated at 328kW, a 30kW improvement on the previous model. Torque has also increased, rising from 1084Nm to 1166Nm. The engine, which features a larger turbocharger and exhaust manifolds now nestled in the V, powers all Superduty models (F-250 to F-550). Heat is isolated and noise reduced in this configuration.
Towing capacity for the F-450 – offering a fifth-wheel facility – is 14.1 tonnes, and the vehicle's gross combined mass is 18.1 tonnes. Sold with a high-capacity tow package (new front springs and wider axle), the F-450's GCM climbs to 15.9 tonnes. The F-350, also approved for fifth-wheel towing, is rated at 12.1 tonnes, and a gross combined mass of 15.8 tonnes.
Five trim levels are offered across the Superduty range, and pricing starts from $105,000 before on-road costs for the F-250 4x2 single cab.
"The 2015 F-Series Superduty provides Australian businesses and primary producers with a new vehicle choice, one that carry up to six people in comfort and safety to their workplace while towing up to 15 tonnes all with the durability and reliability that has made the F-Series a true automotive legend," says Harrison, as quoted in a press release.
"At the same time it is a real alternative to the top end SUV and four wheel drive, capable of towing with ease the largest caravans and trailers, while providing luxury and features that rival its conventional competitors, along with space and a visual presence that could only come from a F-Series. I believe that the combination of the new F-Series and Harrison F-Trucks will take the world's bestselling vehicle, one that has been the benchmark for four decades, to a new level of success in Australia."
