Chrysler's aftermarket parts division, Mopar, has revealed its latest creation: the 2014 Mopar Challenger, all 100 of which were sold by the end of the first day.
Based on Dodge’s latest Challenger coupe, the vehicle is equipped with several cosmetic and performance parts, from a short-throw shifter to lowered springs and performance dampers.
Though the Mopar business model is not comparable to what HSV does to Holden cars, due to it massive parts catalogue available through dealers the outcome is essentially the same: more powerful, unique-looking vehicles.
Festooned with Mopar parts, the vehicle has plenty of muscle car cool. It rides on 20-inch gloss-black aluminium wheels, has a shaker hood scoop that hints at its 5.7-litre V8 underneath, and a satin black deck-lid spoiler.
Giving the car more voice is a new cat-back exhaust system, while lower, sportier suspension is designed to make the car more fun to drive.
Eye candy includes things like Mopar performance badges, hood pins, interior trimmings, a sequential brake light kit, door sill guards and a Mopar key fob, plus a serialised instrument panel plaque.
"The very high demand for the Mopar ’14 Challenger spotlights the success of our limited-edition Mopar-modified vehicles and also clearly demonstrates the passion our customers have for personalising their rides," said Pietro Gorlier, Mopar CEO.
Although the Dodge Challenger is not available in Australia, Mopar has a local presence and offers various parts and accessories for the Chrysler 300C, Voyager and Sebring Convertible, the Dodge Nitro, Journey and Caliber, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass, Patriot and Wrangler.
