Almost 4000 Fiat 500 micro cars have been recalled in Australia due to a wiring degradation issue.
According to the ACCC recall notice, the Italian city car could "pose an accident risk to the driver and other road users" if the wiring under the dashboard interferes with the steering column, which can result in the wiring wearing out.
A total of 3869 vehicles Fiat 500 cars are affected, built between 2010 and 2014, and owners are advised to get their vehicles inspected.
The national recall covers all Fiat 500 models, including the 500C convertible model.
Notifications will be sent to all owners of the affected vehicles via registered mail, recommending they book an inspection at a Fiat dealership to check the wiring, and fix it if necessary.
A Fiat Chrysler Australia spokesman stated "There have been no reported incidents or injuries in Australia," due to the potential fault.
