Ford Australia has confirmed details of its 2015 updates for the Kuga softroader turbo-diesel variants. The changes follow the announcement of new variants and 1.5- and 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol engines for the Focus-based SUV last week.
The 2015 turbo-diesel Kugas will feature a revised 2.0-litre Duratorq engine rated at 400Nm and 132kW. This is up from 120kW and 340Nm for the outgoing engine.
Fuel economy improves despite the power-up – Ford claims 5.7L/100km for the 2015 model, down from 6.4L/100km (in the case of the top of the range Titanium variant).
The new Duratorq turbo-diesel engine is exclusively matched to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive. The engine gearbox combo is available in the mid-grade Trend and Titanium only.
Other features offered on the new Kuga Trend and Titanium include DAB+ radio and Ford's foot-actuated hands-free tailgate (optional on Trend). The optional Technology Pack continues on Trend and Titanium, but now includes a Tyre Pressure Monitoring system in addition to Active City Stop autonomous braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and blind spot assist and auto high beam headlights.
Ford says the upgraded Duratorq and new EcoBoost engines will be available from January, with pricing to be announced closer to the on sale date.
