Lamborghini 'Asterion' leaked?

Is this the secret 'double trouble' Lambo has planned for the Paris motor show?

A number of magazine scans purporting to be the mystery Lamborghini teased last week have hit the digital ether, providing a grainy glimpse at the Italian brand's latest work of automotive art.

The profile of the vehicle in the images seen here appears to match that of the silhouette in Lamborghini's official teaser sketch, which was accompanied by the quote "Once perfection is achieved, you can just double it".

Unconfirmed reports claim the car's will be named Asterion.

Speculation was that Lamborghini was planning a four seat supercar (how else does one double perfection?) but the images show rear mounted air intakes which suggest a mid-mounted engine. If the images are indeed from the Lamborghini library, it would effectively put the idea of a four-seater model to bed.

So what does the 'double it' enigma refer to? Two engines could be possible, one petrol, one electric, forming the first hybrid concept car from Lamborghini. Until now Lamborghini has resisted the urge to go hybrid, but new emissions regulations in Europe and California will force Lambo's hand.

That being said, the first production hybrid car from Lamborghini may not arrive until 2016-17 when the Urus SUV makes its debut.

The official name, design, and all the juicy details of the latest Lamborghini concept will be revealed on October 2 amid much fanfare at the 2014 Paris motor show… Unless of course there's another leak.
