Australian drivers' penchant for performance shows no signs of abating. And the SVO division of the Jaguar Land Rover concern is the latest to benefit. Jaguar Australia has confirmed it is already holding 10 customer orders for SVO's first vehicle to come Down Under, the hottest F-TYPE yet, Project 7.
This is despite an indicative pricetag in the "mid-$300,000s", which will make it about $130K pricier than the top-shelf F-TYPE R Coupe ($219,130).
Designed to celebrate the brand's seven wins at the Le Mans 24-Hour, just 250 Project 7s will be built. That Australia has already accounted for 10 is an indication of the opportunity the local market presents the Brit brand.
Set to arrive in mid-2015 alongside new manual and AWD versions of the F-TYPE, the Project 7 is based on the F-TYPE Convertible but features running gear from the muscled up F-TYPE R coupe. It also gets bespoke bodywork that recalls aspects of Jaguar's classic 1950s vintage D-Type racers. The F-TYPE R's supercharged V8 is further fettled in Project 7 to produce a claimed 423kW. Other changes include adjustable suspension and weight-saving components and bodywork.
