A new Benz a month in 2015

Mercedes plans to release 12 new models next year, on its way to 11 extra models by 2020

Mercedes-Benz recently committed to adding 11 extra models to its range by the end of this decade, and now it has confirmed many of them will be launched as soon as next year.

At a media function in Barcelona last week, the German luxury brand revealed its model rollout for 2015, when it will launch 12 new models – an average of one new model a month.

As you can see from this image snapped at the presentation by Spanish website coches.net, Benz will release its new AMG Sport range in Europe in January, followed by the S 600 MAYBACH, GLA Shooting Brake, C-Class Plug-In HYBRID and Mercedes-AMG GT super-coupe in March.

The second quarter will see Benz release its new V-Class people-mover and both cabrio and BRABUS versions of its latest smart car (all in April), as well as the new GLC mid-size SUV (pictured here in spy shots) and both the GLE and GLE Coupe large SUVs (all in June).

A facelifted A-Class range will hit the European market in September, followed by the redesigned C-Class Coupe in November.

We expect Australian release dates to lag behind these European launch timings by only a few months. As we reported last week, S versions of the all-new AMG GT and new C 63 AMG sedan and Estate, plus the all-new CLA Shooting Brake, will arrive here late in the second quarter.

Before then in the first quarter Mercedes-Benz Australia will release the facelifted B-Class range, the S 63 AMG Coupe and the special-order S 65 AMG sedan and CLS 63 AMG sedan and wagon.

These models are in addition to the new C-Class Estate, facelifted SL-Class and all-new C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID sedan launched this month.

Mercedes will expand its plug-in range Down Under with S 500 and C 350 Plug-In HYBRID models by late 2015, before Daimler turns its PHEV attention to its growing range of SUVs.

They will be led by the GLC, GLE and GLE Coupe – all due here round October – eventually followed by plug-in versions of the A-, B-, CLA-, GLA- and E-Class.

Unlike the C 450 and GLE 450 Coupe (which are pictured here in an official teaser shot ahead of their world debuts at January's Detroit show and will be the first two models in Mercedes' new AMG Sport range), the new C-Class Coupe range and facelifted A-Class line-up are unlikely to arrive here before 2016.

Also yet to be confirmed is a local ETA for the V-Class people-mover, while the future of the smart brand in Australia is yet to be announced.

Further afield, Mercedes-Benz is also developing C-Class and S-Class Cabriolets, the S-Class Pullman super-limo, the GLC Coupe, a facelifted GL-Class (called the GLS) and further MAYBACH variants.
