Fiat has announced that the latest limited edition Abarth 595 – a 50th Anniversary model – is priced at $45,000 for local buyers, and just 56 units are allocated for Australia.
"Without doubt the Abarth 595 is an inspirational car for enthusiasts and we're delighted to have secured 56 '50th Anniversary' models for Australian customers," said Veronica Johns, President and CEO of Fiat Chrysler Australia.
"We're sure some will be snapped-up by collectors but equally, those with a passion for iconic high-performance Italian cars will find the Abarth 595 '50th Anniversary' comprehensively equipped and a delight to drive every day."
The turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder under the bonnet of the 50th Anniversary edition develops 132kW and 250Nm with the overboost function enabled by pressing a 'Sport' button on the dash. Torque is fed through the front wheels via a five-speed robotised manual transmission with shift paddles. Fiat claims the 50th Anniversary edition will reach 100km/h from a standing start in under seven seconds. And a dual-mode sports exhaust system lets other road users know the Abarth is coming through, once the engine reaches 3000rpm.
The Abarth gets its power to the road through Torque Transfer Control (traction control) operating on the front wheels, which are 17-inch alloys. The limited edition model can be easily distinguished by its white paintwork and bespoke graphics. Standard features include xenon headlights, fog lights, a sunroof, red leather sports seats, leather-bound steering wheel, climate control, CD/MP3 audio system with 'Blue&Me' and reverse parking sensors.
