DELHI MOTOR SHOW: Datsun Redi-Go revealed

Nissan sub-brand show off new high-riding hatchback

Datsun, Nissan's much-loved brand re-established for emerging markets in the 21st Century, is aiming its Redi-Go concept at buyers wanting an affordable, yet versatile, car.

Looking like a small five-door hatchback on raised suspension, the Redi-Go concept is obviously inspired by the Datsun Go, which was revealed last year in July.
No engine specifications for the Redi-Go were released, but we suspect it might share the same engine as the Go, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine sourced from the Nissan Micra. The Redi-Go looks like it would borrow more than an engine from the Go, so we suspect it shouldn’t take much to put the Redi-Go into production.
This marks the third car to bear the Datsun name, after the aforementioned Datsun Go and Datsun Go+, after Nissan decided to resurrect the badge as their budget brand in emerging markets.
It's no surprise that the new car was unveiled in Delhi, since India – one of the four 'BRIC' nations (the powerful emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China) – is a key plank in Nissan's marketing strategy for the Datsun brand.
