Opel is on the case with a replacement for its Corsa OPC that was sold here during the German GM company's brief appearance on the Australian market, where it could return with Holden badges as a rival for pint-size hot hatches like the Ford Fiesta ST, VW Polo GTI, Renault Clio RS and Peugeot 208 GTI.
Although the mini hot hatch continues the same basic theme as the model sold here for just below $30,000 (before on-road costs) last year, Opel's next OPC model will get the latest Corsa's new-look grille/headlight area and updated rear-end with its new tail-light arrangement extending onto the boot lid.
Although the test mule's roof-mounted spoiler looks the same, a pair of exhaust outlets at either side of the rear bumper contrasts with the central, triangular arrangement seen in the current model.
Nothing substantive can be gleaned from these photographs, but other changes could be expected in the side skirt area, as well as front and rear fascias. Automedia reckons the wheels could be bigger, too, although those on the test mule look exactly the same as the Australian-market car.
Word is the powerplant will be the same 141kW/260Nm 1.6-litre turbo seen in the current model.
