Having just released a mining-spec version and with an all-new model just around the corner, Toyota has now released a special-edition ute called the HiLux Black.
With fewer than 1000 to be produced, the late-life limited-edition offers a number of black-themed interior and exterior enhancements to Australia's most popular ute, as well its top-selling four-wheel drive and third best selling vehicle bar none.
In addition to the standard features of the range-topping SR5 4x4 Double Cab pickup on which it's based, extra features include black 17-inch six-spoke alloy wheels with machined faces, black side steps, a black sports bar and black leather-accented seat trim.
There are also prominent new front and rear bumpers featuring black extensions below the fog light surrounds and a large black lower front grille with red stripe along the bottom edge.
For the first time since Toyota axed its performance brand here, the HiLux Black also wears TRD badging – on its front bumper extension and wheel caps. There are also special-edition badges on the front and rear bumpers.
Toyota says the prominent new front bumpers has never been offered before in Australia, while LED daylight running lamps are also fitted for the first time on a HiLux Down Under.
The HiLux black is available exclusively with Toyota's 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel, matched with either five-speed manual or automatic transmissions, and will available only in Eclipse Black or Glacier White.
The white HiLux Black manual costs $53,240 plus on-road costs ($1500 more than the SR5 4x4 Double Cab diesel), while the optional black paint costs $550 extra and an automatic adds a further $2750.
