GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: ED Design's self-racing flyer

Torq EV show car for possible one-make racing series to demonstrate autonomous capability

Breaking with convention for its autonomous (self-driving) electric vehicle concept car is Italy's ED Design.

According to website worldcarfans.com, the styling studio's Torq concept – as seen in this teaser image – is a highly aerodynamic two-seater to be powered by an electric motor. Passengers are advised to bring a good book for any journey in road-going versions of the Torq Concept, since it is expected to be built without windows.

ED Design reportedly plans to create a one-make race based around the car – presumably built in small numbers to accommodate that endeavour. But as worldcarfans.com observes, a field of windowless, autonomous, electric-powered, low-drag EVs doesn't promise to make for enthralling competition.

The Torq show car will premiere at Geneva next month.
