Porsche's done it. Lamborghini's done it. AMG's all over it. Even Bentley takes its fast, fat four-wheel-drive coupes to the icy wastes of the north. And now HSV wants you to experience what it's like to have too much power and not enough grip.
The Holden brand's official tuning house is promoting the HSV Ice Drive Experiment on its website and via twitter and it's no April Fools Day gag.
It's asking for expressions of interest for the event which will take place over three days from July 1-3, 2015. Not in the northern hemisphere, however – rather at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Ground (SHPG) in the hills nearby New Zealand's number one winter locale, Queenstown.
"We all know how an HSV handles on the track, but how does it handle on the ice and snow?" begins the blurb.
HSV will take 12 vehicles and 13 instructors to the event. It says the program will cost participants $3600 (ex GST) not including airfares.
The cost includes two nights' accommodation, transfers to and from SHPG, breakfasts and some meals plus the one-day HSV Ice Drive Experience including the interestingly named 'Snow Circle slide control'... Yee hah!
Spots are limited and will likely fill fast. In fact, if you're going to request a spot you better get your skates on...
