In its final year of production, the Defender will celebrate its two-millionth production milestone with a one-of-a-kind vehicle.
Created in conjunction with brand ambassador and adventurer, Bear Grylls, as well as actress and founder of the Born Free Foundation, Virginia McKenna OBE, the bespoke model will be sold at a charity auction. Funds raised will help the International Federation of Red Cross, Red Crescent Societies and the Born Free Foundation.
The special Defender will not only help support worthy causes, but celebrate a staggering 67 years of the iconic model's production. 'Defender 2,000,000', as it will be known, will make its public debut at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed and complete a schedule of public appearances before being auctioned in December.
Land Rover says the Defender 2,000,000 features a "plethora of distinctive finishing touches" including a map of Red Wharf Bay – where the design for the original Land Rover was first drawn in the sand – engraved into the aluminium fender, unique 'no 2,000,000' badge on the centre console and on the rear of the vehicle, Indus Silver satin paint and Santorini Black wheels, wheel-arches, roof, door hinges, grille and mirror scalps.
The interior features leather seat trim stitched with the Red Wharf Bay and 2,000,000 logos, while a bespoke aluminium plaque signed by everyone who helped to assemble the vehicle is fitted to the driver’s seat plinth. At the front and rear, S90 HUE number plates reference the first ever pre-production Land Rover, registration 'HUE 166'.
