Toyota has announced a global recall of its Prius models following a discovery that a software glitch could, in unusual circumstances, shut down the hybrid system when driving.
Models affected include the Prius V model made from May 2010 to November 2014.
Toyota has nominated the US and Europe as markets with cars that will be recalled. It’s not known whether Australian cars share the fault.
There has been no report of crashes or injuries caused by the glitch, according to the manufacturer.
