GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Kahn unleashes Defender-based 6x6

British tuner Kahn Design has confirmed it will bring a wild six-wheeled Land Rover-based concept to the Geneva

Based on the long-wheel base Defender 110, Kahn’s latest concept is called Project Flying Huntsman and will be a natural rival for the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6.

Powered by a 320kW version of GM’s LS3 6.3 V8 driving through a six-speed automatic, Land Rover’s Defender had to undergo extensive re-engineering to enable the large V8 to fit under the bonnet. This involved lengthening its ladder frame chassis to create a longer nose.

In total the Flying Huntsman is 1200mm longer and 150mm wider than the standard Defender.

Kahn Design hasn’t released any performance figures but has said the Flying Huntsman show car is an armoured vehicle.

Kahn will also make a four-wheel version and is considering making a Flying Huntsman-based ute.

Pricing will be announced at the show with the regular Flying Huntsman 4x4 rumoured to cost £125,000 before taxes ($A230,000.)
