Land Rover drops manual Disco Sport
Local demand stretches out to four months for Freelander successor, but only with auto transLand Rover has already scrapped the manual transmission variants in its Discovery Sport range, just three months after the new SUV's on-sale date in Australia.
The six-speed manual was the default transmission choice across the range, other than the auto-only Discovery Sport Si4 SE model, which came as standard with the nine-speed ZF transmission that was formerly an option for the other variants in the range.
According to Tim Krieger, General Manager for Communications and Public Relations at Jaguar Land Rover Australia, the importer took the decision "to delete [the] manual transmission to simplify the range, as demand on this spec has been inconsequential."
However, Krieger also revealed to motoring.com.au in an email today that demand "is very strong" and buyers can expect to wait as long as four months in some cases. Land Rover is carrying some Discovery Sport stock though, and buyers who are prepared to be flexible on specification can get into the new model much sooner.
Prices now start from $55,800 for the TD4 SE variant.
