Toyota will stage the world debut of its first RAV4 Hybrid on the second day of the New York International Auto Show tonight... but it won't be seen on Australian shores.
Toyota Australia's product public relations manager Stephen Coughlan confirmed to motoring.com.au that we wouldn't be receiving the green SUV.
"We have no plans to expand the current RAV4 engine line-up which includes two petrol engines (with 2.0- and 2.5-litre capacities) and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel offering," he said.
The current Australian RAV4 range is currently ranked a close third in the segment for 2015 sales, with 2854 units sold by the end of February. This trails the Nissan X-TRAIL (2913 units) and segment-topping Mazda CX-5 (3784).
