Mercedes-Benz is almost ready to launch its next C-Class model, the Coupe, based on these spy photos from Automedia.
Spotted here in Germany for the first time, the C-Class Coupe wears psychedelic camouflage across its entire body (except the roof) but this doesn't hide the car's overall proportions or silhouette.
Sitting slightly lower than the C-Class sedan and wagon models, the new Coupe is expected to be a sportier proposition, in order to rival models such as the BMW 4 Series, Lexus RC and Audi A5 Coupe.
Although it's not clear when we'll see the Benz C-Class Coupe in the flesh – possibly as early as March 2015 at the Geneva motor show, but more likely later in the year at the Frankfurt motor show.
The new models will be definite starters in Australia, but aren't likely to arrive for at least another year. But when they do they'll be presumably offered with the usual assortment of four, six and eight-cylinder engines, with range-topping AMG models delivering jaw-dropping performance.
As well as a lower, sleeker roof, the two-door coupe also appears to have plenty of extra cladding at the rear, suggesting a fancy new rump to match S-Class Coupe-inspired slim line brake lights.
The mirrors are also mounted on the longer doors now, not the A-pillars, but the headlights appear unchanged. The 'face' of the new model is likely to mirror that seen on the critically acclaimed sedan and wagon C-Class models, for continuity. The interior, too, appears to be virtually identical.
The rear-drive coupe is also expected to spawn a convertible version.
