The Mitsubishi ASX compact SUV has come in for a number of running changes to improve its appeal, including the fitment of a newer, more modern steering wheel, a digital radio tuner, new-look 18-inch alloy wheels and cosmetic tweaks.
Visual changes to the ASX include black wheel-arch extensions and a chrome accents on the tailgate.
Unchanged standard features include seven airbags, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, touch-screen infotainment systems, climate-control and Bluetooth connectivity.
Manual and automatic CVT gearboxes are offered along with two engine types — a 2.0-litre petrol (110kW/197Nm) and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel (110kW/360Nm).
Prices for the petrol models remain unchanged, starting at $25K plus on-road costs for the 2WD manual, but the pricier turbo-diesels have been reduced by $500, taking the starting price to $31,490 for the auto 4WD diesel. See prices below for more details.
Despite Mitsubishi's 'It's a Mitsy!' advertising campaign being derided by the creative minds behind the 'I bought Jeep!' advertising campaign employed by Fiat Chrysler Australia, Mitsubishi sales so far in 2015 have been rising steadily -- up 10 per cent for the first five months of 2015.
Total Mitsubishi sales thus far in 2015 are 26,855 units -- up from 24,395 for the same period in 2014. The ASX has been particularly popular with shoppers, with sales skyrocketing more than 40 per cent, from 3297 in 2014 to 4626 this year.
The ASX is the second most popular small SUV in Australia, beaten only by the Hyundai ix35 with 7620 sales.
