New Ghostbusters car revealed

Director tweets pics of new ECTO1 from movie reboot

Paul Feig, the director of the new Ghostbusters movie, has tweeted two images of the automotive star from his forthcoming movie.

Replacing the ancient converted 1959 Cadillac ambulance, the new Ghostbusters have chosen something fractionally more modern -- a 1989 Cadillac Brougham.

It’s not know if the new Cadillac began life as an ambulance or, more appropriately, a hearse.

The choice of the ’89 Cadillac, instead of the re-using the original ’59 Caddy is because, in the movie, the Ghostbusters -- now played by an all-female cast -- were penniless when hunting down their new ride and a Brougham is an appropriate, near worthless, vehicle. Prices of a pristine 1959, Cadillac, meanwhile, will set you back more than $US100,000 for a car with ‘matching numbers’.

We’ll have a long wait of more than a year until will see the new ECTO1 in action, with the global release date for the new Ghostbusters movie set for July 22, 2016.
