French website website Automoto.fr has caused a stir by leaking images of the new Renault Alpine Vision Gran Turismo concept car ahead of its official debut later this month.
Although grainy, the images may provide an insight into how the new Renault-powered Alpine sports car will look, which has been confirmed for an Australian launch in 2016.
The digitally-designed race car will be drivable in the Gran Turismo 6 videogame on PS3 later this month, when the model is expected to be revealed in France, and shows off an exceedingly radical style that borrows design elements from many areas, such as Le Mans race cars and the wild Renault RS 01 race car, which is powered by the Nissan GT-R's 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6.
Showing off a long and low design featuring twin air tunnels that run the vehicle's length, the car's sleek, sculptural bodywork curves over its four-spoke large-diameter wheels. The single-seat race car also features a snorkel, suggesting it's powered by a combustion engine and is likely to constructed of lightweight carbon-fibre and aluminium.
Renault's virtual Alpine racer joins a host of futuristic virtual cars released for the PS3 GT6 game by car-makers, including Mazda, Subaru, Volkswagen, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, Toyota, BMW, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Aston Martin.
