Leaked: 2016 Kia Sportage pops up on Facebook

Korean car website posts first glimpse of all-new Sportage on social media ahead of Frankfurt reveal

Just days after teasing designer sketches of how the fourth-generation Kia Sportage is shaping up, the full production car has been leaked by a Korean car website on Facebook.

The images, posted last night, surfaced on Bobaedream’s Facebook page and appear to show the full production car ahead of its official unveil at the Frankfurt motor show next month.

Set to share its platform with sister Korean brand Hyundai's new Tucson mid-size SUV, the Sportage is claimed to bring Kia’s best ever interior in terms of design and quality.

Under the bonnet the Mk4 Sportage will feature significant drivetrain upgrades including downsized turbocharged engines and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, at least for Europe.

The new Sportage will get improved 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre Hyundai group four-cylinder engines for the diesel line-up, while the petrol side is expected to add the all-new 1.2-litre T-GDi engine, an upgraded 1.6-litre unit as well as a 2.0-litre turbo.

Like the outgoing car, the Sportage is expected to be offered with both front- and all-wheel drive.

The current car is Kia’s second best-selling model in Australia with prices kicking off at $25,990 and stretching to $41,590.
