Range Rover has previewed its Evoque Convertible with a series of full-scale wire models on the streets of London ahead of its official launch at the LA motor show in November.
On sale in 2016, the Range Rover Convertible has already been confirmed for Australia and it expected to be priced from $60,000 when it arrives.
The roof mechanism is expected to take less than 20 seconds to fold but because of the lack of a fixed roof various body reinforcements are required, which could make the SUV cabrio as much as 100kg heavier than the normal Evoque. Expect boot space to suffer too.
It’s not known how the increase in weight and reduction in rigidity will affect the small SUV’s off-road ability.
Confirmation that Land Rover was readying an Evoque Convertible came at this year’s Geneva motor show when it released pictures and a video of the Evoque being driven underneath London through the unfinished Crossrail tunnel.
