Recent sales a confidence boost for Suzuki

Local arm eyes further expansion with new models

After falling off the sales radar in recent years, Suzuki Australia is buoyed by 2015’s sales figures, which show a 29 per cent 2015 year-to-date sales increase to April, according to VFACTS.

The local arm hopes to continue building on that momentum with the imminent arrival of its born-again Vitara, which was recently launched in Europe and is currently suffering from a supply shortage there, such is the demand for the all-new model. It is expected to go on sale in Australia in early September.

“Our aim for Vitara is that it becomes an aspirational SUV,” said Andrew Moore, General Manager Automobiles, Suzuki Australia. “So it will be extremely well specified at every level, from both a connectivity and style perspective. I know customers will also love our personalisation approach with the car and its colours.”

In addition to new Vitara, two vehicles that were recently shown at the Geneva motor show, the iK2 hatchback and iM4 crossover, are now firmly on Suzuki Australia's radar.

“We have requested the factory make these cars available for Australia,” said Moore.

“Both would be perfect in our quest for Suzuki to be Australia’s best-selling compact passenger and compact SUV brand to private buyers.”

These key models form part of Suzuki Australia’s expansion ‘quest’, which aims to boost sales to beyond 30,000 by 2017.
