The same Danish car designer who penned the Aston Martin DB9 and Vantage Coupe has created this one-off design study based on the current Aston Martin Vanquish.
Called the ‘Thunderbolt’, it was created by Henrik Fisker for the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida and features a more steeply raked rear screen, new light clusters and a subtle boot-mounted spoiler.
It has also been lowered by 15mm and Fisker has also added huge 21-inch wheels for a more aggressive stance.
Inside, there’s a bespoke interior that includes a curved, height adjustable 11.6-inch infotainment screen that’s described as a world-first.
Between the rear seats, meanwhile, there’s also a bizarre twin champagne bottle-holder - hinting at the price the Thunderbolt might attract if it ever went into production.
Developed in isolation without help from the 101-year old car-maker, the Thunderbolt is believed to pack the same 424kW/630Nm 6.0-litre V12 that hauls the Vanquish coupe to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The motivation behind creating the Thunderbolt, Fisker says, was to “create an elegant beautiful GT sports coupé, with pure emotional sculpture, that would stay timeless.”
However, some may interpret the Thunderbolt as a novel plea by Fisker to get his old job back following his parting with the failing Fisker Automotive.
In any case, the Thunderbolt — which was created in collaboration with LA-based Galpin Motors — is expected to be produced in;extremely limited numbers.
It's the second time Fisker has joined forces with Galpin. Last year the pair unveiled the Mustang-based Rocket concept at the LA motor show.
