Honda's long-awaited hybrid supercar, the NSX should be on sale in Australia in the second half of 2016.
Speaking at today's first showing of the car Down Under, Honda Australia sales boss Stephen Collins confirmed the timeline with motoring.com.au.
A concept, but clearly production ready, an example of the NSX will be displayed at this weekend's Australian F1 GP. Collins and McLaren Honda driver, Jenson Button, lifted the sheets on the car this morning at one of the company's Melbourne dealerships.
"It's definitely 2016 but we think it will be in the second half," Collins told motoring.com.au.
Collins said the company was in the process of selecting NSX specialist dealers. The likelihood is the company will appoint one for each state, however, more outlets may be added in key markets.
"Obviously, it's a specialist vehicle that will require specialists services," Collins said.
"Once the dealers are appointed and announced, we will open the order books formally," he stated.
Collins said pricing for the petrol-electric hybrid supercar was still to be set.
"I wouldn't even want to guess [at this stage]," he told motoring.com.au.
Collins also reiterated the company's desire to add the new Civic Type-R hot hatch to its local line-up.
"It's not if, it's when," he said pointedly.
"This [NSX] is the first priority. After that, we'll work on securing the Type-R," he said.
