Mercedes-AMG has shown off early design sketches of its 2016 DTM racer based on the new, recently revealed, C63 Coupe.
Sporting a huge aero the new DTM racer is lower and wider with a big increase in front and rear track.
To comply with the 2016 DTM spec the racer will use the same 375kW 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 - but the new race engine will be short-lived before the race regulations change in 2017 and 440kW 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engines become mandatory.
The 2016 new C63 racer will have a hard act to follow. Previous C-Class-based DTM race cars have won 85 out of 159 races.
