British sports-car maker Morgan has revealed its most powerful four-cylinder Plus 4 ever.
Called the AR Plus 4, the new Morgan has been developed and produced by the company’s racing division, AR Motorsport. The limited run of 50 cars is expected to be powered by a 170kW 2.0-litre engine built by former F1 engine builder Cosworth.
Performance hasn’t been confirmed, but weighing in at less than 900kg, the AR Plus 4 is expected to reach 100km/h from standstill in less than six seconds. This makes it the fastest 2.0-litre Morgan in the history of the firm.
To help cope with the extra power the Plus 4 gets new suspension all around, new brakes, wider 16-inch alloys and lightweight aluminium floor and body panels.
Inside the Morgan AR Plus 4 the manufacturer has added more insulation to reduce road and wind noise, conflicting a little with all that weight-saving.
The AR Plus 4 also features a new re-designed dash and lots of leather and aluminium features.
In a nod to modernity, the quick Morgan also gains LED head- and tail-lights.
In the UK the new AR Plus 4 is priced from £54,995 ($110,000). No word on whether we'll see it in Australia, but it's a good chance.
