Pininfarina has branched out from designing cars by teaming up with a fellow Italian firm and creating a lightweight, high-performance road bike.
Called the De Rosa SK Pininfarina, the new road bike was unveiled on the weekend at the Eurobike bicycle show in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Said to combine Pinanfarina’s flare for design and engineering prowess developed while working within the automotive industry with car-maker’s like Ferrari, the new bike also benefits from De Rosa’s 60-year heritage of bike building.
Technical highlights include neat internal wiring to a super slender front profile for better aero.
Boasting excellent aerodynamics and great handling, the SK Pininfarina weighs just 6.7kg all-in thanks to De Rosa’s expertise in ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre, some 3D printing and ‘special’ resin.
Billed as the “perfect synthesis of style in performance” the SK was actually designed for triathletes but can be also be happily ridden for pleasure.
Pricing hasn’t been announced for the high-end De Rosa but rumour has it the SK Pininfarina will be priced north of $20,000.
