French car magazine L’Automobile is reporting that Porsche is primed to shock show-goers at the Frankfurt motor show with an all-new electric sedan to go head-to-head with Tesla’s Model S.
The new sedan, long rumoured to be called ‘Pajun’, is also expected to spin-off more conventional petrol and diesel powered variants to rival the BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Thought to be based on a shortened version of the new Panamera's platform or the MLB evo architecture that underpins the Audi Q7, the all-electric Pajun will need to have a range of at least 500km to compete with the Tesla Model S.
It will also need to reach 100km/h in less than 3.5 seconds to measure up to the blisteringly-fast American sedan.
If the rumours are true, and the German car-maker does reveal its 5 Series-fighter at Frankfurt, expect the Pajun to be in showrooms as soon as 2017.
