Parents are often pigeonholed as stark raving-mad drivers during school hours, when the cut and thrust of finding a parking spot to pick up their kids is more important than world peace... And this video featuring a heavily modified 400kW-plus Toyota people-mover isn't going to help matters.
But by Jove it's fun to watch! Dubbed Momkhana, the video parodies YouTube sensation Ken Block's Gymkhana series, which spans seven instalments that have been watched several hundreds of millions of times. And, like Block's videos, this one was also promotes a footwear brand, albeit a chain store in the USA.
But really, who cares what it promotes when there this much socially irresponsible awesomeness going on?
The premise: a mother is picking up her two kids from school to take them shoe shopping. But as soon as they buckle up their four-point safety harnesses and don their helmets, and the 404kW Chevy LS3 V8 sings, it's clear something else is occurring.
Driven by Hollywood stunt woman and professional driver Shauna Duggins, the highly modified rear-drive Toyota Sienna cuts a swathe through suburbia, leaving a trail of tyre smoke and rubber in its wake.
There has been some negative publicity around the video, claiming it's irresponsible. Complaints have been made that it encourages hoon behaviour and suggests it's OK to drive like a maniac in residential areas.
The production company behind Momkhana insists the video was filmed on a closed course, but we doubt such advertising antics would ever see the light of day in Australia.
