Iveco has released limited details and some photos of its looming third-generation Daily, which will hit European markets in the middle of 2014.
The revamped van and cab/chassis models, which are produced at factories in Suzzara, Italy, and Valladolid, Spain, retain their ladder frame chassis but boast a range of enhancements.
Iveco says the new van now has a more accessible cargo bed, improved handling and boosted carrying capacity. It will be available in new and larger 18m³ and 20m³ capacities, along with a new 11m³ model. Currently in Australia the Daily is available in 8m³, 12m³, 15m³, and 17m³ formats. Iveco says the 18m³ and 20m³ models represent the ‘best in class’ in terms of load volume.
Handling and manoeuvrability is enhanced through the Daily’s new design, says Iveco, which features elongated wheelbases and reduced rear overhang. All Daily models up to 3500kg have new front suspension while a new rear suspension format on single-wheel-drive models reduces the height of the loading platform by 55mm, for easier loading and unloading.
Iveco claims a fuel consumption reduction of five per cent for the new Daily, along with an unspecified reduction in total cost of ownership expenses.
The cabin is said to offer improved noise insulation, more efficient air-conditioning, and heightened comfort, while externally the new Daily benefits from refreshed styling.
Iveco’s new Daily will be available with a range of engines, transmissions and axle ratios, with the van and cab/chassis models complemented by a range of minibus formats.
While the revised Daily will go on sale in Europe in coming months, Iveco Australia has said the model won’t reach our shores until early 2015.
