Toyota preps value-added Camry RZ
Mid-size sedan range gains sporty variant with added featuresToyota has a new, limited edition model Camry up its sleeve, to augment the current mid-size sedan range.
The Camry RZ, which is priced from $31,990, is based on the Camry Altise, but features the following additional items: 17-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black, matching gloss black grille/spoiler, side skirts, revised headlights, fog lights, sports-tuned suspension, reversing camera, dual exhaust, upgraded steering wheel/gear knob, 6.1-inch infotainment display and exclusive front floor mats. Colours available for the Camry RZ include Inferno Orange, Wildfire, Reflex Blue, Graphite, Silver Pearl and Diamond White.
With at least six months left to run before the new, heavily facelifted Camry reaches local showrooms, the Camry RZ should revitalise interest in the model range – built at Toyota's Altona plant in Melbourne's west.
Camry has long been the dominant player in the VFACTS medium car segment, and Toyota Australia will want to maintain that ascendancy, not only in the lead-up to the local plant's closure in 2017, but beyond as well. The Camry RZ is a small but important cog in that task.
