BMW Group sub-brand MINI is launching a new, limited-edition version of its Paceman model to celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup to be fought out in Brazil between June 12 to July 13.
Complete with Astroturf floor mats, a goal net in the luggage compartment and a miniature football table set on the centre rail, the specially conceived MINI Paceman GoalCooper pays homage to the world’s biggest sporting event.
With its oversized alloy wheels and Danielson multi-coloured paintwork combining green, blue and yellow, the GoalCooper is expected to draw big crowds in MINI showrooms, possibly competing with the 2014 World Cup itself.
The inside of the GoalCooper can be set up as an soccer goal by folding down the rear seats, with the net located between the two front seats.
A special innovation is the inbuilt training facility that uses the MINI’s electronics to enable between-game practice.
The Park Distance Control sensors, working with the alarm monitoring system, close the tailgate immediately to keep the box clean if there is a shot on goal.
An LED lighting package gives the interior a stadium-like feel, while the atmosphere is further enhanced by the ability to set off Mexican Waves on all four seats.
For its tilt at taking out the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the highly favoured motoring.com.au team will be driving a fleet of specially modified MINI GoalCoopers with innovative rear-wheel drive and raised suspension giving 400mm ground clearance.
Direct communication with the International Space Station via a newly developed connectivity system will give an unparalleled view of proceedings in Brazil.
Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but dealer delivery penalties are unlikely.
