GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Special Edition Aston Martins

V8 Vantage N430 and DB9 Carbon Black and Carbon White take collectability to new heights
Aston Martin is to unveil two limited edition models at Geneva next month.
Celebrating 101 years of car design and manufacturing, the iconic British company – currently in talks with Mercedes-AMG – will roll out the race-inspired N430 edition of its V8 Vantage with an uprated engine good for 321kW at 7300rpm. The car will go into limited production and buyers can opt for a roadster variant as well as the coupe.
"N430 is all about bringing track-honed excitement to the road in an accessible, emotionally engaging, and authentically 'analogue' way," says Ian Minards, Director of Product Development at Aston Martin.
"The dynamic exhilaration of Vantage is the perfect complement to the eye-catching looks of the N430," Minards was quoted saying in a press release.
In addition to the power hike, the N430 will offer seats in carbon-fibre and Kevlar and ten-spoke forged alloy wheels finished in a graphite colour. The overall effect is a weight reduction of 20kg.
Aston Martin claims a 0-60MPH time of 4.6 seconds, which should come close to sub-five seconds for the 0-100km/h run. The car's 4.7-litre V8 is matched to a six-speed manual transmission, but can be optioned with a seven-speed automated manual with a close-ratio cluster and lower (numerically higher) final drive ratio.
Visual cues comprise a black tone for the grille, headlight bezels, mesh inserts, side window surrounds and tailpipes. The tail lights feature clear lenses with black surrounds. Interior features exclusive to the N430 include unique badging, machined carbon-fibre sill plaques, black magnesium shift paddles, carbon-fibre gear lever surround, carbon-fibre fascia, piano black decorative trim, black pedals, black anodised rotary switches, black anodised door sill plates, Plissè Alcantara upholstery and a leather-bound steering wheel with contrasting on-centre stitching. For extra cost, buyers can opt to order the car with a 1000W Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Aston Martin is asking £89,995 and production models will commence delivery in the UK from September.
Also on the stand at Geneva, Aston Martin will have Carbon Black and Carbon White editions of the DB9, basically styling exercises.
"The classic DB9 Carbon Black and daring DB9 Carbon White special editions give this timeless GT a fresh and highly desirable new appearance," says Aston Martin Design Director Marek Reichman.
"Meanwhile, the exciting details that define N430 should leave no one in any doubt about the car’s motorsport roots. Bold graphic treatments and the option of vivid colour combinations conjure up clear visual echoes of the race circuit."
