Maserati's Alfieri show car will be the star performer at the famous company's 100th anniversary celebrations in September.
Named the International Maserati Centennial Gathering, the three-day event commences in Modena on September 18 and concludes in Turin on September 20. A series of activities will include exhibitions, parades, a regularity race, a track test, visits to the Maserati factories and a concours d'elegance.
A visit to the Maserati exhibition at the Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari on the first afternoon will be followed by a tour of the Viale Ciro Menotti factory, where the GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Alfa Romeo 4C models are built.
The following day the Gathering moves to Turin, with a stop along the way at the San Martino del Lago Circuit near Cremona for track sessions. Cremona will later play host to a parade of Maserati models of historical significance. Before nightfall the Gathering will finish up in Turin at the Piazzo Castello, with a dinner held at the Reggia of Venaria palace.
For the final day participants will visit the Avv. Giovanni Agnelli plant, to witness Ghibli and Quattroporte models being built. That afternoon the event will conclude with the Concours d’Elegance in Piazza San Carlo.
While the event proper doesn't begin until September 18, there will be a prelude the day before, for Maserati owners to have their photo taken alongside their car, in front of the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna. The fountain inspired the trident logo adopted by the company.
Maserati was established in December 1914 when brothers Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto Maserati opened a car repair workshop in Bologna. The brothers weren't only hand with a spanner, they also proved to be capable drivers.
