Price cut, added kit for waning Civic

Honda's small car range gets a much-needed boost with lower priced admission and new gadgets for upmarket models
Honda has sent for the doctor to revive its ailing small car, the Civic, which is down more than 3835 sales for the year to date – a 45 per cent drop from the 8501 cars sold last year.
A facelifted sedan – identified by a revised grille and two new metallic colours (Modern Steel and Golden Brown) – introduces a new entry-level variant at $18,490, which is $1000 less than before.
Honda has also revised the model range by adding new standard features in the higher-grade variants, which are now renamed. The sedan range kicks off with the Vi model in five-speed manual form only, priced at $18,490. In effect the Vi replaces the former VTi manual, but the VTi automatic remains in the range, now priced $200 higher, at $21,990.
At $23,290, the VTi-L has not changed in price, but the level of trim is now named VTi-S. Similarly, the VTi-LN ('N' for navigation) remains priced at $26,290, but is now marketed as just the VTi-L. Pricing ($30,290) and name for the Civic Sport have not changed. Metallic paint is an option costing $575.
All models other than the base-grade Civic Vi now come with Display Audio system and reversing camera, with the VTi graduating from 15-inch steel wheels to alloys of the same size. Barring the Civic Sport flagship, all higher-level variants ride on 16-inch alloys. Civic VTi-S gains chrome door handles and keyless entry. For the new VTi-L variant, standard equipment adds leather-appointed seats, rear parking sensors and electrically retractable mirrors. New colours for the 17-inch alloys fitted to the Civic Sport – which also gains an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat – serves to distinguish the range-topping model from its previous model year counterpart.
"The Civic is one of Honda's most successful global nameplates and one of the first models introduced in Australia back in the 1970s," said Honda Australia Director, Stephen Collins.
"Since then, the Civic has been an Australian favourite and celebrated forty years of production with close to 23 million sold around the world.
"We've added a number of new features to the Civic sedan and a renamed variant line-up, offering customers more choice across the Civic range."
