Porsche celebrates milestone with Sharapova

Tennis star Maria Sharapova attends gala event to help promote Porsche milestone

Porsche Cars Australia held a gala cocktail party to celebrate the first anniversary of their Australian-based women’s lifestyle website, WomanWithDrive.

The event, attended by over 200 female Porsche customers, was headlined by international tennis ace and Porsche ambassador Maria Sharapova, and hosted by womanwithdrive ambassador and Big Brother host, Sonia Kruger.

One of Maria Sharapova's recent conquests included winning the 2013 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. Her reward was a Porsche.
When home the glamourous tennis ace drives a 911 Turbo.

Sharapova was at the Australian event ahead of her Australian Open tilt, to give advice to her fellow Porsche owners on staying focused and driven while maintaining a busy and active lifestyle.

"Women today are pulled in a number of directions on a daily basis," Sharapova said. "To carve out the time to come together and celebrate ourselves and our girlfriends makes for a very special evening and I am thrilled to be part of it."

Sharapova was also seen recently at the LA Motor Show to help Porsche launch their new medium-sized SUV, the Porsche Macan.

Porsche Cars Australia has previously confirmed the Macan will start from under $85,000 when it's launched here in June and should prove very popular among men and women alike as the marque's most affordable vehicle.

Paul Ellis, Porsche Cars Australia spokesman, attended last night’s gala event and stated that "women are also playing a greater role in luxury car purchases and are frequently just as busy, if not more so, than their male counterparts".

With that idea in mind, womanwithdrive is designed to give women quick and concise stories on topics such as wellbeing, fashion, travel, design and beauty.
